One of the main principles of Qigong is that we all have the ability
to heal ourselves, but in this modern world we tend to rely a lot on modern treatment and medication. There are times when
this is appropriate as modern medicine has advanced a long way and has the ability to treat many diseases effectively. There
are many instances though, where modern medicine offers little relief and there are some treatments, when applied over a long
time that are likely to produce side effects. By over reliance on modern medicine, we are forgetting our own abilities to
heal ourselves and this is what Qigong teaches.
The cycle of suffering from disease goes something like this. When we are under a lot
of stress, the tendency is for this to lead to too much thinking. When the brain is overactive, then we cannot sleep as well
as we could like or need, and then we start to become tired and use up the body’s reserves of energy. Because we are
low in energy, this causes two things to happen. Firstly, the energy circulation to the body’s organs slows down which
causes sluggish or blocked Chi. Secondly, the blood circulation slows down which means that the body’s organs are not
getting the nutrition, oxygen and cleansing they require.
Emotional imbalances also cause our bodies to tense up, gradually affecting the working
of the internal organs in the same way as above. For instance, anger can damage liver function and produce anxiety that also
affects the heart, stomach and blood pressure. Sometimes being over-joyed or over-excited can trigger a heart attack or cerebral
hemorrhage whereas over-grieved can cause deep depression or bring low energy to the body. It can be compared to a rubber
band losing its elasticity after prolonged usage.
Qigong requires us to be in touch with our inner world. Through meditation, breathing techniques
and exercises we can achieve a stage of relaxed, alert calmness called the Qigong State. Being in this state is a great help
to gaining stronger immunity and self-healing power. Relaxation should be both physical and mental. It is not enough to just
relax the body. Equally so that relaxation is complete. Qigong teaches that relaxation and calmness are always strongly related
to the balanced functioning of our bodies. When this is done, we can learn how to direct energy to areas of weakness or low
energy in our bodies by developing energy awareness and this is how we heal ourselves.

What Is The Best Time To Practise?
Normally we suggest exercises in the morning, practice meditation before you sleep
because after whole night sleep, your body will feel stiff, exercises will help blood circulation, make your body more flexible.
After whole day work, our brains would be too exciting, meditation would help calming down to have a good sleep. Also do not
practise when you are hungry or full as when you are hungry it is hard to concentrate and when you are full the practice will
affect your digestion.
Should I Take Care Of Diet During Practice?
Greasy, spicy or sweet food
will increase your Yang energy causing you heart burn; too much heat inside body; too much anger and not sleeping well.
So, eat most fruits and vegetables which are good to clean heat and toxin.
Where Should I Practise?
When you practise, your body
would be very relaxed and your pores are all opened. It is very easy to catch cold in the wind or cold weather.
Always keep your body warm especially when you practise meditation because right body temperature can help you calm down and
relaxed.

Daily Qigong practice is an investment in your health, maximum input with maximum result. so, if
you can practise daily that would be very beneficial.
